Rotary Park

A Legacy of Service. A Place for Our Community.

Rotary Park is a lasting example of what’s possible when people come together to build something that benefits everyone.

PARK HISTORY

1988

The Pekin Park District proposed a partnership with the Pekin Rotary to develop a neighborhood park on the former site of Garfield School on N 11th Street. Pekin Rotary donated $7,540 and the area was named "Rotary Park".

1989

The basic construction and playground were completed and dedicated with a luncheon at the park. Later that year, Rotary donated an additional $5,700 toward a picnic shelter, restrooms and basketball courts.

2016

Pekin Rotary began a regular park beautification effort with a clean up day, repairs to the shelter, fresh paint and the removal of the chain link fence around the playground.

2017

Trees were dedicated and planted in honor of Mike Caringello, Don Meinen and Gary Gillis. Miss Margigold Courtney Psinas painted the 11th Street retaining wall with colorful marigolds.

Today

Rotary Park is, and continues to be, a main source of pride for our club.

Built by Community.

Rotary Park is a true reflection of service above self. From the original construction to ongoing improvements, Pekin Rotary members continue to give their time, talents and resources to keep the park looking its best for future generations.
